Professional Philosophy
The core fundamentals of nursing are to provide compassion and evidence-based care to clients in that contribute to health promotion, resolution of illness, or end-of-life. Master’s prepared nurse practitioners are educated as Advanced Practice Registered Nurses who integrate theory, research, management, leadership, consultation and education into their clinical roles. Nurse practitioners acquire specialized skills and knowledge in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. As a Nurse Practitioner, I plan to combine by passion for care and safety by promoting health seeking behavior and identifying risks for the comprehensive management of patient care. I will utilize my knowledge in my clinical decision making process to critically think and diagnose reasoning that is integral to advanced practice. As the primary care provider, I am looking forward to seeing my patient on a regular basis and providing a continuity of care for their healthcare needs. I want my patients to value my concerns and trust that I am doing everything in my power to make them healthy. I want to empower my patients with knowledge and include them in their plan of care in an effort to maximize compliance. I feel that the education and training I have received at UTMB and my years of experience as a bedside RN have given me the foundation I need to be a competent Family Nurse Practitioner. I look forward to providing care and continuing to learn throughout my nursing career.
